What Is a LOLER Inspection?
LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) requires that all equipment used to lift people or loads at work is regularly inspected and maintained in safe working order.
Under LOLER 98, a competent person must carry out a detailed inspection at least every six months for any equipment designed to lift people - including MEWPs, scissor lifts, and cherry pickers.
